Solar system for a home in Lahore

The cheapest time to add solar is while the house is being built: conduits, roof structure and the inverter room are planned once.

How to size it

1. Take your average monthly units (kWh) from 12 months of bills.
2. In Lahore, 1 kW of panels produces very roughly 100–130 units a month, less in winter and smog.
3. Divide monthly units by that figure for a starting kW size, then check roof space.

On-grid, hybrid or off-grid

• On-grid: lowest cost, no backup in load-shedding.
• Hybrid: batteries keep essential loads on during outages.
• Net-metering or net-billing rules are set by NEPRA and your DISCO (LESCO) and have been changing, so check the current policy before you size for export.

• DC cable in its own conduit, with DC breakers, SPD and proper earthing.
• Inverter in a ventilated space near the DB.
