Approval guide
House map approval in Lahore: DHA, Bahria Town and other schemes
Before a single brick goes in, your house map (naqsha) has to be approved by whoever controls your area: the society authority in DHA or Bahria Town, or the development authority for most other Lahore schemes. Building without approval risks fines, sealing and trouble when you sell. This is how the process usually runs.
Usual steps
- Get possession and a demarcation (site plan) of the plot, and clear any dues with the society.
- An architect prepares architectural drawings to the society's bylaws: setbacks, coverage, height, basement and mumty rules.
- A structural engineer signs the structure drawings; larger houses and basements also need a soil test.
- Submit the file with ownership papers, CNIC copies and the fee challan; respond to any objections.
- After approval, start work and request stage inspections where the society requires them; get the completion certificate at the end.
DHA, Bahria Town and other schemes
DHA and Bahria Town run their own building control offices and bylaws, and tend to inspect closely. In other private and authority schemes the rules depend on whether the scheme itself is approved, so check the scheme's status before you buy or build. Approval normally takes from a few weeks to a few months depending on objections.
Fees and bylaws change; always confirm the current schedule with your society or authority office.
